Cheers! reviews: my big fat greek wedding - My Big Fat Greek Wedding Reviews
The surprise box office hit of 2002, "My Big Fat Greek Wedding" is an intoxicating and delightful romantic comedy that everybody should and will enjoy.
Nia Vardalos is irresistable as Toula Portokalos, a 30-year-old, unmarried, unattractive woman that belongs to a Greek family that embraces its culture a bit too much. Her family is always trying to get her to marry a Greek man so she can make meat eating Greek babies. All of Toula's family is headed that way, Toula's sister has three children already! Toula doesn't want this. She doesn't want a Greek man, she wants a man that she loves.
Toula eventually sees a guy she might actually love, Ian Miller (John Corbett). The problem is he's a W.A.S.P (a white Presbyterian American) and a vegetarian too. That just doesn't work with her family. So Toula and Ian carry on a secret love affair, but her family finds out. Ian and Toula must work out cultural clashes between both of their families, and plan their wedding at the same time. Folks, this certainly is a "Big Fat Greek Wedding."
The Oscar-nominated screenplay was actually written by Nia Vardalos herself. The work is great, the movie is very funny, it's no wonder it was such a hit last year.
